This Week's Box

Thanks everyone for a great season!

For those new to Round Right Farm, you can check here during the harvest season to find out what items will be in the current CSA box. We will also use this space to provide recipes and let you know about the week-to-week adventures on the farm. Your support of the CSA is an integral part of strengthening the local food economy and we appreciate it.

We try to grow as wide a variety of produce as possible, so this list is far from complete, but we did want to let you know about some of the specialties you'll find in your box that make Round Right Farm unique.

  • Spring Salad Mix- our mountain summers allow us to grow our “spring” mix all season long. We raise a special mix of baby loose leaf lettuce that is unparalleled. It is as tender and buttery as lettuce comes. Not only is it quickly snapped up at the farmers market, it is also featured in many Morgantown gourmet restaurants and at Mountain People's Co-op. If you're looking for a quick snack, this is one of the healthiest ones around.
  • Pruden's Purple Tomatoes- We feel this tomato is the standard to which all other full sized tomatoes should measure themselves. They are actually more pink than purple, and are almost universally the winner in our taste tests. It's too juicy to survive the typical shipping routes of most conventional tomatoes, so you won't find them in the supermarket. These are also a restaurant favorite.
  • Sun Gold Tomatoes- These little orange delights are really more like a berry than a tomato. “#%&! that's good!!” is the typical reaction when people feel them pop in their mouth for the first time. Most of our customers with kids report that these don't last the car ride home, and several have taken to buying two to three pints at a time.
  • Bird Egg Beans- This is a local heirloom; we got the seeds from the Methenys, who sold us the farm. This variety has been in the neighborhood for generations, and though we've found the seed online through other avenues, we prefer the seed that has acclimated to our local climate. Their robust taste will keep even the bean averse coming back for seconds and thirds and fourths.
  • Golden Beets- Sweet as honey! They are a beautiful golden orange and can make any recipe explode with color. Also check out our Chioggia Beets- bright pink on the outside with alternating pink and white stripes when you slice them open. Another great eye-catching addition to your table.
  • Edamame Soybeans- This oriental treat is a sensual pleasure. Lightly sprinkle the steamed pods with salt and enjoy their flavor as you wrestle the bean out with your teeth.
